Panic attacks and anxiety resurfaced for me in Dec 2016 after 10 years of having them under control. I started sessions with Acupuncture That Works in January 2017 feeling at my wits end. By Sept 2017 I had finished the sessions having got it all completely under control again thanks to Acupuncture and Cath.

I cannot recommend Acupuncture That Works enough, Cath puts you completely at ease with her gentle demeanor and lets you dictate the number of sessions.

She researched other ways to help me with the anxiety and will happily explain the logic behind the acupuncture.

I am secure in the knowledge that should I relapse at all I have a safe place to go for treatment.

Thank you xx

MP TestimonialAlthough I live in Spain, whenever I return to the UK I always receive Acupuncture treatment from Emma Guy for back pain. I have suffered with this for years and Emma is the only consultant that has provided me with satisfactory relief. I have known Emma for many years and would trust her with my life.

Apparently back pain is the No. 1 reported reason for seeking Acupuncture. And research has shown that Acupuncture is a very effective tool for relief of low back pain.

I have found this to be very accurate and have had immediate relief after a session with Emma.

I have no hesitation in recommending her and her clinic.

I have been suffering from migraines for the last 2-3 years which have been steadily getting worse as time passed. They are directly attributed to my hormones and monthly cycle and my Mum used to get them. When I had a migraine I had all the usual symptoms; sickness, sensitivity to light and pounding pain behind my eyes and forehead. They would last for anything from 3 to 6 days with no relief. I was taking far too much ibuprofen and it barely made a dent in the pain but did offer some relief.

I was sceptical about acupuncture as a possible treatment as I had no understanding of how it could work and still don’t if I’m honest. I do know that it works though and I really don’t need to understand it in order to benefit from it. I only wish I’d tried it sooner.

The positive effect was very quick and within a couple of months the migraines reduced in intensity and didn’t last as long. After another few sessions they hardly appeared at all. I’m confident that these will soon be banished.

Whilst working on the migraines I’ve also had treatment for fertility, it’s only been 2-3 months but so far my cycle has regulated and returned to normal. I remain hopeful that the outcome will be a positive one.

Cath is excellent, she’s professional, friendly and instantly puts you at ease. It’s more like popping in to see a good friend for a natter than being a patient. I can’t thank her enough for the positive impact she’s had on my life.

juliaSince having breast cancer in November last year, I have suffered from terrible hot sweats and insomnia. This was partly due to the treatment and partly due to being taken off my HRT.

This affected my working life and I struggled to cope. After trying all kinds of herbal medications, I decided that I could no longer tolerate the Tamoxifen medication that I had been prescribed.

In August this year I began a course of acupuncture at St Luke’s, with Acupuncturist Emma Guy. At this time I felt very down and desperate to find a treatment for the hot sweats. I had 6 treatments after which the hot sweats decreased significantly and I was able to get some sleep. After a couple more treatments the hot sweats completely stopped and for the first time in over a year, I slept for 6 hours. Since then I have continued to sleep and have had no further hot sweats.

My experience of acupuncture with Emma has been amazing, throughout the course she has reassured me and supported me through various set backs due to my treatment regime. I am going to continue to have acupuncture with Emma as I when I require it, to keep the hot sweats at bay. I would highly recommend Emma as a dedicated and committed acupuncturist who believes in the expert treatment she provides.

Had a road traffic accident and got whiplash. Heard of Catherine doing Acupuncture and decided to give it a try. Works great. If you have any aches or pains give it a go.

I’ve now had ten sessions with Cath, and began the journey like a car that was being driven fast on an empty tank of petrol. I was surviving, but only just, on an average of three hours sleep a night, and often going the whole night without any form of sleep whatsoever. As a Managing Director of my own company, this was debilitating, stressful and severely impacted the quality of my professional and personal life.

Three months later, I am regularly getting six and a half hours sleep, and feel far more rested, alert and focused on the challenges that the day ahead will bring. Cath has played a massive part in making this dramatic change in events. The acupuncture itself is the needles, but Cath brings far more to my life than the person who decides where and when to place them in the required spot.  The session starts the moment you enter the room, with her genuine interest in your well-being, her ability to ask the right question at the right time, and a calm air of professionalism combined with a knowing smile and ability to build rapport. I leave every session feeling better and more rested than I did when it started.

I wholeheartedly believe that the combination of acupuncture and Cath Peake is a combination that can help you address head-on the challenges that you previously thought were insurmountable.

I first met Catherine Peake in June 2015, when I was referred for acupuncture by my Pain Consultant, for help with severe pain and lack movement in my right arm, due to a tumour and the effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  From the very first session I had a reduction in pain and slight increase in movement.  This continued over the 6 prescribed sessions, and once they had finished, I decided to see Catherine in a private capacity.  I now have weekly sessions of Acupuncture, Reiki and Chinese massage.  This has resulted in a huge improvement in movement and dexterity in my right arm and hand, and I no longer take pain killers –  which at one time included oral morphine.

Catherine is a great listener, thoughtful and kind.  She is an expert practitioner, and has made suggestions throughout my treatment, tailored exactly to my needs.  My sessions are an important part of my life, and have enhanced it greatly.  I thoroughly recommend treatment from Catherine, and cannot thank her enough.

I was recommended Acupuncture by my Mum, who had used it in the past for a different issue. After suffering with extreme morning sickness, to the point of not being able to go into work, I was willing to try anything.

Instantly upon meeting Cath, she was extremely friendly, warm and reassuring. She put my mind at ease immediately and made me feel “normal” for the way I was feeling.

I was sceptical at first, having never tried anything like this before, but it is relatively pain free and quite a relaxing experience.

Cath explained what she was going to do and why. So every time she placed a needle, I knew it was coming and I knew why it was there and what she was hoping to achieve by it.

It doesn’t hurt. You may feel a sharp pin prick the first time you attend, but after that, nothing. Afterwards, I felt flushed and tired, but in a nice relaxed way.

I started with two sessions per week, and I honestly think the sessions help to ease my morning sickness. So much so that when I missed a week once, I knew straight away, as I felt lethargic and sick immediately, as though my body was telling me I needed a top up.

It didn’t cure my morning sickness completely, but it helped manage it to a point where instead of being sick all day, every day, I was sick, maybe once in the day, which was a huge improvement, and helped me to lead a more normal life.

Quickly I dropped down to once a week and now do not need it at all.

Cath helped me during a time that was very distressing, worrying and wearing on my mind and body. I felt cared for and looked after during each session and I will always be grateful to Cath for helping me through this difficult time. I would have no hesitation in contacting Cath for acupuncture in the future should I have any other medical or lifestyle issues, as I 100% support and believe in its benefits.

For over a year I had been really struggling with anxiety symptoms that were having an impact on my day to day life.

I was feeling really drained and fatigued, having light headed dizzy spells, racing thoughts in the mornings, heart palpitations and sometimes panic attacks.

I had been to the doctors several times, tried a lot of lifestyle changes, had hypnotherapy, had holidays but nothing was controlling the symptoms.

Then I did some further research and heard about acupuncture, so I decided to give it a try and immediately I felt calmer and more relaxed than I had for a long time just after the first session.

I have had about 4 or 5 sessions now and I feel virtually back to normal, I have less fatigue feel a lot more relaxed and calm I don’t have light headed dizzy spells at all anymore.

I would highly recommend acupuncture to anyone who is suffering with anxiety, it’s been by far the most effective treatment I have had.

Also Cath who has been treating me has been very good, I would highly recommend her to anyone.

HOT FLUSHES!! – having gone down the usual route for menopausal hot flushes I tried Red Clover which worked for a while but eventually had to give in and see my GP to ask to go on to HRT. This works but obviously there is a time limit that the medical profession like you to adhere to and I came off the HRT in the spring of this year, 2015. I did this with trepidation as the hot flushes were ruining my life with being constant in the day and then having the night sweats. This meant that I was getting very little sleep, meaning that I could not function properly at work during the day. I did not want to return to this state of affairs and had heard that acupuncture could be used with excellent results. My hot flushes returned, along with the night sweats, a few weeks after coming off the HRT.

I went along to see Catherine. After just 2 sessions my symptoms were virtually non-existent. I was still getting some hot flushes – approximately 1 per week along with a few nights sweats. I thought maybe this was as good as it got – this was very good in my eyes – but Cath said we could persevere to get a better outcome. A few more sessions and she seemed to find the right combination of pressure points that controlled my flushes and brought them down to NIL.

This is a fabulous outcome and I cannot thank her enough. Hot flushes are very debilitating and affect your daily life. Life without them is fabulous. I cannot recommend acupuncture and Cath highly enough – thank you.
