Acupuncture For Lower Back Pain: Elizabeth’s Story

A patient of ours, Elizabeth, was 52 years old when she came to our office for lower back and leg pain. At the moment, she was also experiencing menopause. She started getting X-rays for her lower back when she was 20 years old, and has had them quite a few times since then. Generally speaking, for lower back problems, the common causes are: 1. Soft tissue injury 2. Issues of the vertebrate, disk or degeneration of both 3. Mental or psychological issues 4. Diseases related to internal organs 5. Tumors and 6. The spinal cord or spinal nerve. In this patients case, she experienced half of these causes. When treating these causes, if the pain is associated with the first 3 listed above, then acupuncture is one of the best choices.
