Back Pain

Acupuncture for back pain
According to the British Acupuncture Council website “Research has shown that acupuncture is significantly better than no treatment and at least as good as (if not better than) standard medical care for back pain”. Typically however acupuncture is used in addition to other treatments for back pain and as such, whilst it can be used as a stand alone treatment, we would advise taking a medical view should symptoms persist.
Acupuncture looks to help back pain by providing pain relief from the symptoms, reducing the inflammation typically present in back problems, working to improve the muscular stiffness and immobility that are typically associated with back complaints and reducing the need for ‘conventional’ medicine to relieve the pain.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) now recommend that GP’s offer patients a course of acupuncture as a first stop treatment for persistent, non specific lower back pain.
At Acupuncture That Works we are happy to help if you are suffering from pain in the lower back and will be glad to offer you a free no obligation assessment and talk to you about the benefits that treatment could bring. Please call us on 0800 051 76 88 to make your appointment.
