Acupuncture That Works goes to the Moon

This week has seen the loss of a great man, Neil Armstrong. He was the commander of Apollo 11 and the first man to walk on the moon. He was also a US Navy Pilot and a latterly a university professor. When he set foot on the moon back on 20th July 1969 he described the landing as ‘one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind’

Prior to this point astronauts were generally not regarded as heros, but Neil Armstrong became one and will be remembered for a very long time to come.

So what has Neil Armstrong got to do with this post? Well recently at Acupuncture That Works we have been doing some ‘Space Research’ ourselves and have found a very interesting article which you can see on the link below. It seems that NASA have been using Bioenergetic Balancing for many years; this is where a magnet is used on an acupuncture point to balance the body’s qi and help natural healing processes happen.

The good news is that you don’t need to be an astronaut or even a hero to benefit from the healing powers of magnetism. SO if your body feels a little ‘spaced out’ and you would like to bring it back ‘down to earth’ give us as call today and let us help rebalance your QI.

Acupuncture That Works loves the Olympics

Have you noticed that a number of the Olympic athletes have different coloured tape on their bodies? Do you know what it is and why? The answer might surprise you as the tape is designed to provide acupressure to various meridians on the body. This process is known variously as Acupressure taping or Kinesio-taping or sometimes acutaping.

The principle is that by applying pressure to painful areas of the body using this tape, the acupressure tape will help injured areas move whilst the injury or soreness is being treated at the same time. The tape can be used around the neck, back, shoulders, arms and legs and it can also promote good blood circulation. The manufacturers claim it can also help reduce pain and promote a shorter healing time.

Acupressure taping is a relative new method that uses on the basic theory of acupuncture which has been around for over 3000 years, and when success or failure in the Olympics is measured in thousandths of a second, anything that can give just the slightest competitive advantage is worth doing.

If you enjoy sport and want to increase your ability then maybe acupressure or acupuncture may help?

Acupuncture That Works – Acupressure for children

My five year old Son contracted Molluscum Contagiosum and was having irritating sores and scabs for over twelve months. Whilst these were very unsightly I felt he was unable to go swimming or take part in other social activities.

I came to see Emma as she had successfully treated my brother for a shoulder problem and she was able to administer acupressure in certain areas of my son’s body. It was after the second treatment that I started to notice that the rash was starting to clear across the top of the my son’s body and the spots were not as angry looking. I didn’t want to hold out too much hope as he had been suffering with these sores for such a long time and nothing seemed to improve his condition. After the third treatment, four weeks later all of the spots had gone bar one. He was able to resume all the activities he had been missing and there has been no sign of the sores.

I am so happy that Emma was able to treat him and she didn’t have to use a single needle!
