At Acupuncture That Works, we now offer Seated Acupressure Massage as one of our many massage treatments.
Seated Acupressure Massage differs from other types of massage in that the patient is fully clothed and sat leaning forward in an ergonomically designed chair to allow maximum comfort. In this position our therapists aim to work on the circulatory, muscular and nervous systems by stimulating a range of pressure points in the head, neck, back, shoulders and arms. It is a treatment that patients tend to receive quite frequently to help promote relaxation whilst giving them a boost of energy for their everyday life.
The application of ‘pressure’ in this massage works in a series of movements that help to improve the flow of energy in the body as well as promoting balance in all of the key systems. This treatment generally last around 20 minutes and consists of the therapist using their hands and elbows to apply the correct amount of pressure to stimulate key acupressure points around your body.
Whilst this type of massage can be used in a very general sense to improve day to day mental and physical wellbeing, it also has proven to be effective in supplying numerous other health benefits. These can range from relieving muscle aches/tension, reducing feelings of fatigue, helping decrease blood pressure, allowing mental relaxation and improved concentration, removing toxins and much more.
It is however important to know that this type of treatment is not suitable for pregnant women or those trying to conceive. It is also advised that those who suffer from musculoskeletal conditions or epilepsy do not receive this treatment. These conditions/any other conditions you may suffer from should all be discussed with your therapist beforehand in an initial assessment so that they are able to advise what type of treatment would benefit you.
